Talking to Magnum: 03/16/07
Every so often I dream I'm best buddies with a fictional character or a historical figure. Recently my dream buddy has been Thomas Magnum. Last night's chit-chat with Magnum must have been inspired by Stranger than Fiction.
I was somehow on Oahu for the screening of the upcoming (on again, off again) Magnum PI film. King Kamehameha Club was hosting the preview. Sitting at the bar after the film was Magnum (no, not Tom Selleck nor Matthew McConaughey). He was wearing his red Hawaiian shirt and Tiger's cap. From his appearance, I'd guess he was from one of the mid seasons. He sat there next to me as if we'd always been friends.
He moaned about the movie and how he could understand why it was cast the way it was but he would have done things differently. We took a walk along the beach and chatted some more. He said he could barely recognize his friends any more and that things just seemed "weird" now.
I wish I'd had the time to post this earlier when the memory of the dream was fresher in my mind. I really enjoy dreams like this one. They're always so refreshing.
