Snowfall: 03/26/10
"Snowfall" by Jessie Thompson was originally published in 1988 and was republished for the anniversary issue of Fantasy & Science Fiction Magazine. The reprint has a loving introduction by Harlan Ellison. Thompson's story is what I would call a transformative mood piece. A young girl tired of her abusive father seeks to escape in her own fantasy world where she is a snow fox. "Snowfall" required two times through for me. The first time I read it I was left feeling letdown and little bit confused. The second time I enjoyed the poetry of Thompson's words but it still wasn't as satisfying as it should have been.Comments (0) |
