What Are You Reading: October 18, 2010: 10/17/10It's Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list. All of my finished books this week were from the library. Five were for research. Four were picture books Harriet and I read together. The rest I read for my own fun. I'm really glad to have finally finished Theodosia and the Staff of Osiris. I've been attempting to read that book for most of this year. I would get through about fifty pages and have to send it back to the library. Now there's a third book out which I plan to check out. I wonder how long it will take me? Finished Last Week:

Comment #2: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:19:12 Pussreboots It was an usually large number of books for me. Comment #3: Monday, October, 18, 2010 at 04:27:44 Wow you had a very busy week! Am wondering how you are liking The Red Pyramid. I read it this summer but wasn't that thrilled. Way too much going on and I found it confusing. Hope you are liking it better than I did. Have a great week. Comment #4: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:21:42 Pussreboots I loved it but I have had a thing for Egyptian themed books since high school. Comment #5: Monday, October, 18, 2010 at 08:10:39 What a nice collection of books you read last week. I like all of Nancy Carlson's books. Love the illustrations. I have to try Babymouse. My students love them. Happy reading! Comment #6: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:23:18 Pussreboots Thanks. It was about all I could handle but my research books were due back at the library. Since they were inter-library loans, renewal would have been difficult. My daughter is a huge Nancy Carlson fan, even has some of her drawings pinned to her wall by her bed. Comment #7: Monday, October, 18, 2010 at 09:02:51 Anne of Green Gables? Oh my gosh! I love Anne of Green Gables. I haven't read that book in 20 years. I must re-read it ASAP. How is school/research going? Comment #8: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:29:09 Pussreboots I am re-reading Anne of Green Gables to prepare for Nanowrimo but I probably won't get through the book in time before the writing madness begins. School is keeping me busy. Comment #9: Monday, October, 18, 2010 at 11:20:41 That is a huge list of currently reading. I'm pathetic.. I can only read one at a time. Enjoy and will be inspired to become a super reader one day. Comment #10: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:31:12 Pussreboots Reading more than one book requires bookmarks and the same attention that it takes to follow multiple TV series across a season. Comment #11: Monday, October, 18, 2010 at 13:21:30 Great reading week - you did have a variety there. I should start listing what I read with my youngest and I must get to The Red Pyramid soon. I have the same problem you do - not with the same book, but I have several books I get a little into and then have to return, it's so frustrating. I'm trying to curb my library using for awhile because of not having time to get to the books. But it's hard - I love the library. Have a great week! Comment #12: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:37:32 Pussreboots Most of my library books this month have been research related. Now I have a small pile of fun reading from the library due in about two weeks that I have been ignoring. I want to get through them but my research and writing will have to come first. I have a few reasons why I list the books I read with my children. First is, I've been keeping a list of everything I've read since I was in the 7th grade. I'm in my twenty-first year of maintaining the list. Second, is I like picture books. I don't think I will ever out grow them. Third is, the picture books are quick reads and make sure I always have something to talk about on my blog. Comment #13: Monday, October, 18, 2010 at 17:03:39 The Early Hayward (CA) caught my eye cause it's my home how interesting! I hope you have a great week... Comment #14: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:42:07 Pussreboots The Hayward and San Leandro books were both fascinating. I also recommend the Castro Valley book from the same publisher. I'm a transplant to the East Bay so I love these books for quick introductions to the local history. Each one is full of old photographs. Comment #15: Monday, October, 18, 2010 at 22:24:40 You had an awesome week. Thank you for visiting my blog. Enjoy. Happy Reading. My niece loved Anne of Green Gables when she was young. Comment #16: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:44:14 Pussreboots I enjoyed Anne of Green Gables when I was young too. I'm rereading it with a more critical eye this time. Comment #17: Monday, October, 18, 2010 at 23:39:03 Wow you got a lot read this week. I'm jealous! Happy reading. Comment #18: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:49:33 Pussreboots It was more than I'm normally comfortable reading but I had to because the library books were due and I needed them for research. Comment #19: Monday, October, 18, 2010 at 23:51:25 Productive week! I plan to pick up the Portable MLIS sometime soon. Comment #20: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:51:35 Pussreboots The Portable MLIS is an interesting collection of essays on library science. Some of them are a little outdated but that's because the social media aspect of things is changing so quickly. Comment #21: Tuesday, October, 19, 2010 at 21:11:49 I am sooo tempted to read a few picture books. It's been a while! You have a lot of great books! Have a wonderful week! Comment #22: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:52:11 Pussreboots Picture books are a great stress reliever. Comment #24: Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 21:53:15 Pussreboots I agree but it was necessary to get through those research books. Comment #25: Wednesday, October, 20, 2010 at 16:20:43 Thank you for stopping by Clandestine Sanctuary. I realized that it is rather late but better late than never right? :) Wow that is quite a heavy read. Do you always read this amount of books!? Amazing. Comment #26: Monday, October 25, 2010 at 22:38:26 Pussreboots No. I was under deadline pressure. It was about twice my normal load. |
