What Are You Reading: May 16, 2011: 05/15/11
I'm on a brief vacation between spring and summer terms. I'm only taking one course over the summer so I should still have some time for fun reading. I am, however, also doing free lance writing and looking for a job.
This week I finished up the manga I had on hand. I typically read an issue over my morning cup of coffee. I also read some more from one of my back issues of Fantasy and Science Fiction magazine. I'm working through two issues: September/October and November/December both from 2010.
My upcoming reading will be a mixture of books from my wishlist that I've checked out from the library and books from my personal collection of "to be read" books. I have a small pile of books I would like to finish in time for the June Bookcrossing meeting so I can pass them along to someone else.
Two books I know for sure that I'll be reading this week are The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer and Tips on Having a Gay (ex) Boyfriend by Carrie Jones. Beyond that I'm not entirely sure.

Hope you enjoyed The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, that's one of my favorite childhood series :)
Comment #2: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 13:56:33
I did and I didn't. I read a faithful reproduction of the first edition. While it was a fascinating experience the illustrations got in the way of the text! I will write a fuller explanation with my review.

Wow you had an amazing week. Enjoy your books and have a wonderful week.
Comment #4: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 14:03:35
Thank you. My currently reading list has gotten so short I'm not sure what to start next. Which is completely silly. I'll figure something out.
Comment #5: Monday, May, 16, 2011 at 00:02:25
I have never tried Manga... but you make me want to.... in the morning with coffee.. I think I will make it a goal. :)
Comment #6: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 14:08:00
The trick is to find a manga series in a genre you normally like.
Comment #7: Monday, May, 16, 2011 at 05:45:43
Wow again such a list!! How do you do that?
I read a manga this week myself :) Chi's Sweet Home, have you read that? It sounds like something you would enjoy :)
Comment #8: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 14:13:54
I haven't read Chi's Sweet Home but I will keep it in mind.

Comment #11: Monday, May, 16, 2011 at 07:50:16
I just finished watching another work by CLAMP, Kobato. In it the characters from Tsubasa show up ... LOL.
Comment #12: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 14:16:15
I haven't read Kobato. But it doesn't surprise me that Tsubasa characters are showing up in it. That seems to be CLAMP's thing.

I just haven't gotten into reading Manga yet, but feel like I should. Maybe this summer...
Comment #16: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 14:21:22
Manga has as many genres as regular fiction. You just need to find a series in a genre that you like.

"The Case of the Missing Marquess" sounds historical maybe I should check it out! Happy Reading and thanks for stopping by my blog :)

WOW! How on EARTH did you finish 16 books last week? I am jealous!!
Comment #22: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 14:27:33
I finished seven full length books, many of them I had been reading slowly for the last month. I also read four manga which are very quick. Three were short stories. And the last two were picture books; they can be read in a matter of minutes.
Comment #23: Monday, May, 16, 2011 at 10:29:22
Let me ask you-how do you read so many books in a week?
Comment #24: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 14:37:02
The quick answer is that I primarily read books with low word counts. For a longer expalnation you can read my March 18 post.

You're welcome. Books Do Furnish a Room is the tenth book in a twelve book series. I haven't read the other books but I plan to.

I am so jealous of the amount you read! And I am looking forward to your manga reviews, Black Butler is a new favorite at my library.
Comment #30: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 14:47:30
It's going to take a while for me to get the Black Butler reviews posted. I can tell you that I love the anime but find the manga a little disorganized.
Comment #31: Monday, May, 16, 2011 at 14:12:04
The Case of the Missing Marquess was good. I listened to it and want to continue with the series.
Comment #32: Monday, May 16, 2011 at 14:51:41

Next Monday's list won't be as long. I've been scrambling around doing everything I've neglected while in school.
Comment #37: Tuesday, May, 17, 2011 at 07:51:03
Thanks for stopping by my blog. You read a lot of books in a week. I wish I had that kind of time. It's gotten better since I've added in audio books. But still 2 books a week is about all I can manage.
Comment #38: Friday, May 20, 2011 at 13:45:15
Most of the books are picture books and manga. Both are quick reads. I do most of my reading over breakfast.
Comment #39: Tuesday, May, 17, 2011 at 13:14:22
I really love Black Butler. It's great. My favorites were volume 2 and 3. Madame Red's story was really interesting and the art was just incredible. I started watching the anime this week too. It's nice to see it all in color.
Comment #40: Friday, May 20, 2011 at 13:52:31
So far I prefer the anime to the manga. I have volume 3 on hand and plan to read it over the weekend.
Comment #41: Wednesday, May, 18, 2011 at 23:22:28
Wow....you had a very productive week!
Comment #42: Friday, May 20, 2011 at 13:54:32

Wow, last week's list is really long!
I've never read any manga, but it always looks like a lot of fun. :)
I hope you have a great week and enjoy all these books!
Comment #44: Friday, May 20, 2011 at 13:56:21
Manga comes in lots of different genres. Just look for stories you would normally be interested in.
