Book Blogger Hop: February 2012: 02/02/12

Book Blogger HopIt's only been a week since I last posted, so there's not much change to report. I've been to the library twice, so I've picked up more hold books. With getting up before dawn to walk, I'm often too tired to read before bed. I need to adjust my schedule to make time to read.

Books I've finished in the last month or so include:

  • The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong
  • The Golden Gate by Vikram Seth
  • Incarceron by Catherine Fisher

Ex-wishlist books I am currently reading:

  • 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
  • Fairy Bad Day by Amanda Ashby
  • Rin Tin Tin: The Life and the Legend by Susan Orlean
  • Robopocalypse (audio) by Daniel H. Wilson Robopocalypse

Ex-wishlist books on hand to start soon:

  • Angelology by Danielle Trussoni
  • An Anglo-American Alliance: A Serio-comic Romance and Forecast of the Future by Gregory Casparian
  • Bellwether by Connie Willis
  • Bigger than a Bread Box by Laurel Snyder
  • The Book of Tomorrow by Cecilia Ahem
  • The Busy Little Squirrel by Nancy Tafuri
  • Carmelo by Sandra Cisneros
  • The Child Thief by Brom
  • f2m by Hazel Edwards
  • Frankie Pickle and the Mathematical Menace by Eric Wight
  • The Glorious Adventures of the Sunshine Queen by Geraldine McCaughrean
  • Lady Susan by Jane Austen
  • A Letter to Amy by Ezra Jack Keats
  • The Metropolis Case by Matthew Gallaway
  • The Odyssey by Gareth Hinds
  • Outside In by Maria V. Snyder
  • The Pinhoe Egg by Diana Wynn Jones
  • Polly and the Pirates Volume 1 by Ted Naifeh
  • A Red Herring without Mustard by Alan Bradley
  • The Return of Sherlock Holmes and His Last Bow by Arthur Conan Doyle
  • Serenity: Those Left Behind by Joss Whedon
  • The Water Wars by Cameron Stracher
  • Way Station by Clifford D. Simak
  • Withering Tights by Louise Rennison

My wishlist is down to 999, a drop in 3 books.

You and that wishlist lol I need to read more Holmes...and I didn't know there was a Serenity book?

Comment #2: Friday, February 02, 2012 at 22:16:04

The Serenity book is a graphic novel. The original Holmes stories and novels are in the public domain so you can even download them. I happened to get a nice bound omnibus.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I, too, hope that the blog hop continues to be useful. I'm sad that I missed out on the last bits where it was weekly, but I am glad to be back and able to participate now.

I have Incarceron on my shelf to read, but I haven't picked it up yet. Maybe I'll bring it closer to the top of my list...I've owned it long enough!

Incarceron is a quick and entertaining read.

Hi, I am here from the newly revised Book Blogger Hop.

Your reading seems very organized. Enjoy!!

Comment #6: Friday, February 02, 2012 at 22:22:22

My wishlist reading is organized but the rest of it is pretty much as the mood strikes me.

Comment #7: Friday, February 3, 2012 at 19:58:33

I always love reading your lists of books. You have some great selections.

Comment #8: Friday, February 02, 2012 at 22:25:59

Thank you. Happy reading.

Sounds like you have a lot of good books lined up to read. Hope you enjoy!

Comment #10: Friday, February 02, 2012 at 22:26:29

Thank you. I hopefully won't run out of time before they are all due!

Comment #11: Monday, February 06, 2012 at 09:05:33

Your wish list is a great idea. Do you find yourself constantly adding to it?

Comment #12: Monday, February 06, 2012 at 21:04:30

Yes, although I'm trying to curtail that a bit. In 2010, I added 300 books. In 2011 that skyrocketed to 600 books added. That's how I quickly got up to nearly 1000 books.

Stopping by from the Book Bloggers Hop. Is the cat in the banner and background yours? Very cute!

Comment #16: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 14:47:03

Yes. That's one of my cats. I've had her longer than I've had this website.

Nice list! I'm a huge fan of Victorian lit and all spinoffs, so the Arthur Conan Doyle and Withering Tights titles caught my eye. Like a previous commenter, I also didn't know there was a Serenity book by Whedon... I love comics and graphic novels/texts. Will have to check it out.

Comment #18: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 14:50:24

Withering Tights is a companion series to the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series which finished recently. You don't have to have read the previous series to jump into Withering Tights. The book is about a girls' theatrical school and the first years are putting on their musical interpretation of Wuthering Heights.

I haven't started the Conan book or the Serenity graphic novel yet. But I will. No worries!

That's where mine was about four years ago. Now I'm trying to get it under control.
