What Are You Reading: February 06, 2012: 02/06/12
My daughter's home work now includes a section where she has to read to me. So my picture book numbers are back up to where they were last year. She and I read four picture books in the last couple of days.
I read a graphic novel — memoir, really, but in the form of a graphic novel — Huntington, West Virginia "On the Fly" by Harvey Pekar. I also read volume 16 of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle.
That brings my total of short books up to six. The remaining six were full length novels, one of which was an audio book. Robopocalypse by Daniel H. Wilson
As predicted I did finish Dying for Chocolate by Diane Mott Davidson. I am totally, completely, utterly sucked into that series. I adore the audio books. I'm taking a break, though from it, and am listening instead to.
This week I will finish Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins. It is as fun a read as Hex Hall. I even got my husband into reading the series.
What about you?

I think I need to read Withering Tights ;)

You certainly should if you enjoyed the Georgia Nicholson series. While she's not the main character, she is a penpal mentor of the current main character.

You got a lot of reading done. That is fun that your daughter has to read to you. I always envy when I read a book and a couple talks about reading to each other. It would not happen in my house but sounds so romantic.

My husband reads a lot more YA fantasy than I do. Now that I'm trying out more of the recent YA series, we're starting to read the same thing.

I think it's great that your daughter is reading aloud to you! Looks like you have quite the reading lineup for this week!
Thank you for visiting my blog earlier.

I always have a bunch of books going, usually one in each room of my home. I probably won't finish them all this week. I have a big homework assignment due next week. That's where my time will be spent.

I love love LUV Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed. I read it this summer to the school age kids and they just laughed and laughed. :) Really cute book, I hope you liked it!

It was cute but it wasn't our favorite Mo Willems book.

So cool that you can have that time with your daughter!
Comment #10: Monday, February 06, 2012 at 10:36:21
Yes. I like reading with her. We hadn't been doing as much since she can read on her own.

Oh, I think I would love Dying for Chocolate.
I'm going to check out your reviews, especially Cara Mia, as I interviewed that author on my group blog awhile ago. T
hanks for visiting my blog.

I certainly enjoyed Dying for Chocolate. I'm rushing through the series but I need to save up to buy the next of the audiobooks.

You've got a few of my favorites on your list this week: War Horse; Clarice Bean; and A Letter to Amy!
Comment #14: Monday, February 06, 2012 at 10:38:22
I really like Morpurgo's books but War Horse wasn't my cup of tea. My daughter and I are totally addicted to Child's other series, Charlie and Lola. I decided to try a Clarice Bean book. I haven't convinced my daughter yet to try it but I liked it. She, is, however, passionate about Ezra Jack Keats's books, so we're reading through all of his books.

I loved the Rachel Hawkins books! So much fun! Also, Robopocalypse is such a good book! I hope you enjoy all of your reads this week!

I'm listening to the audio of Robopocalypse. There's a long intro but after that, the book picks up speed.

I've said before and I'll say it again - I LOVE Naked Mole Rat!!!! :) The book is incredibly cute - I hope you enjoyed it :)

How are you liking Robopocalypse - I'm on the fence on whether I should read it or not.
Comment #20: Monday, February 06, 2012 at 10:45:15
I am liking it, now. There's a long introduction that confused and bored me. But after that the book picked up speed. Thematically it reminds me of a mixture of Fullmetal Alchemist and Chobits with a little Futurama thrown in (think Bender saying "Kill all humans!")

How wonderful to have your daughter reading to you!
I admire you for reading 1Q84 - I want to read it but my last attempt at Murakami was not a success!
Comment #22: Monday, February 06, 2012 at 10:48:20
I read a collection of his short stories a few years ago and loved them. I am taking 1Q84 very slowly, only about 2, maybe 3 chapters a week.

You have some good books here - hope you have a great week!
Comment #26: Monday, February 06, 2012 at 21:33:25
Thank you. I have a lot of homework this week, so I'm not sure how much spare time I'll have for pleasure reading.
Comment #27: Monday, February, 6, 2012 at 22:52:54
I used to read Diane Mott Davidson voraciously, but I just lost track of her somewhere along the way. Enjoy your week!
Comment #28: Monday, February 06, 2012 at 21:35:25
I can remember when her series was incredibly popular amongst my friends, but I didn't get into it until I borrowed my friends audio copy of Fatally Flaky.

I like your No. 1 and 7 from the books to be read this week!

Withering Tights I will probably finish this week. 1Q84, though, will take me months.
