Red Sings from Treetops: A Year in Colors: 03/29/12
Red Sings from Treetops: A Year in Colors by Joyce Sidman and illustrated by Pamela Zagarenski is a celebration of the seasons in five senses and poetry. The book begins and ends with the color red. It is a sign of spring that brings to mind cheers and cherries. Some colors are more evocative of smells and emotions rather than sites and smells. Pamela Zagarneski's multimedia, whimsical illustrations are what drew me into the book. They remind me of Stern Nijland's artwork for the King & King books. The naive / surreal approach matches the poetry of the book. Four stars. Comments (0) |
