My Bloggiesta To Do List: 09/16/15
I haven't participated in a Bloggiesta in a while but this year I'm hosting a mini challenge and realized that I also have some projects for my blog that I keep ignoring. The goals and the mini challenge happen to be related. Besides my book blog, I have two other on-going projects. Photography and a road trip research project. The first and biggest one is my photography hobby. A few years ago I took up hiking as a way to get some exercise. As a way to prove to myself and my family that I was in fact exercising and not just goofing off, I started documenting my hike. Rather than just photograph sign posts and other landmarks, I started taking artistic photographs: flowers, birds, landscapes, butterflies, and so forth. Then pretty soon I was taking my camera on car trips and other family vacations. As you can imagine, these photographs add up. While I upload the originals pretty quickly to Flickr, I also like to do more artistic adjustments to the better ones. I'm about 18 months behind in that process! But more importantly, I want to write some articles about a recent trip we took to England and Wales. It was the first time there for me and my kids. My husband lived in Cambridge for a year in the 1980s, so he wanted to show us around. Anyway, I've been slowly writing articles about my impressions from the trip. The road trip project is the revisiting of a research project I started in 1996 but had to abandon after finishing grad school. Had I gone on to a PhD program, it would have been my thesis. This research project is now strictly for fun, a way to direct some of reading and blogging.
