The Farmer and the Clown: 11/20/15
The Farmer and the Clown by Marla Frazee is a 2015 Charlotte Huck Honor Book. It's a wordless picture book story of a farmer who offers his home to a young clown who has fallen off the back of a circus train. It's a heartwarming book about doing the right thing, the forging of new friendships, and happy reunions. It's all told through subdued illustrations done in earth tones, save for the clown's red hat.
Like the Rust series by Royden Lepp, this is a farm that is mostly dirt. And in both cases, those with little to nothing to spare, still take in those who need help — whether it's a former child soldier cyborg, or a stranded clown child. Five stars Comments (0) |
