The Spider: 11/05/15The Spider by Elise Gravel is a picture book about spiders. Done in a cartoony style, it still introduces lots of spider facts in an engaging and entertaining way. The main character is a female spider who illustrates all the different facts. Spiders are good at camouflage, can live underwater (but not in space), and sometimes carry their babies on their back.
For children (and parents) who are skittish around spiders, The Spider is a non-threatening way to make spiders understandable, even cute. Sure, there are still poisonous ones out there, but most spiders we come across are harmless and useful. Five stars Comments (0) |
