Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant: 07/28/16
Delilah Dirk by Tony Cliff has been around for about a decade as series of comics. In 2011 the first longer form graphic novel was released, with a second one out this year. Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant introduces (or re-introduces for the already initiated) Delilah Dirk and hooks her up with a reluctant sidekick, a former lieutenant of the Turkish sultan. Delilah Dirk is cunning, athletic, focused, and ruthless. She's a modern day (well, nearly modern) Xena with the luck of Pippi. While Pippi has a flying car (if you count the movies), Delilah has a flying boat. She goes after treasure, liberating it from the greedy.
This first adventure was loads of fun even with the violence. This first book is primarily seen through Selim's eyes as he first fails to keep her locked up, then as he's forced to escape with her, and finally deciding to stay with her. Five stars
