It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (October 02): 10/02/17
Friday I picked up the keys to our new home. We're not ready to move in yet. It sat empty for a number of years and needs a few things done before it's ready for us.
As it's now October, my reading will also include whatever is nominated for the middle grade fiction section of the CYBILs. Those books I"m not including in my "up next" because I want to leave myself a little room to also read for pleasure. What I read:

Comment #2: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 20:39:00 Pussreboots The nomination process just began. Public nominations go until the 15th. Then authors and publishers get a chance. By the end of the month the nominations will be finalized. Then we have all of November and half of December to read and discuss and make the short lists. Comment #3: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 06:38:13 Congratulations on the house - good that you can make the changes before you move in! Have a good week. Comment #4: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 20:46:00 Pussreboots Thanks. It's hopefully my last really busy week — at least in terms of this move. Comment #5: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 08:52:41 Congrats on the house! I've read mixed things about Dorothy Must Die -- maybe I'll get to it one of these days. Comment #6: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 20:48:00 Pussreboots It's been sitting on my shelf since it was brand new. My husband read it a few weeks ago and loved it and went and bought the next three in the series. He's talked it up so much that I have to read it now or he'll spoil everything. Comment #7: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 11:17:53 Kathy Martin My brother and I are edging ever closer to getting our house sold. I can't wait until the process is finished. I enjoyed Bad Housekeeping and hope you do too. Come see my week here. Happy reading! Comment #8: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 20:58:00 Pussreboots I'm on chapter three of Bad Housekeeping. I've enjoyed what I've read so far but I suspect this book will be a slow read for me just because of my reading commitments with the CYBILs. Comment #9: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 14:58:44 Congrats on getting the keys to your new house. Enjoy! Your books look tempting. Have a great week, and thanks for visiting my blog. Comment #13: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 21:12:03 Sounds like a pretty exciting week! Hope you can move into your new home soon! I hope you enjoy Dorothy Must Die, It sounds really good, and I want to read it, too! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading! Comment #14: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 22:23:00 Pussreboots It was exciting and sometimes nerve-wracking. We plan to move this weekend. We'll move our kitchen stuff and our furniture, and the cats. We'll hold onto the apartment for a month to give us time to get the rest of the non-essentials and to clean up the place. My husband really liked Dorothy Must Die because it builds off the original books so much. He wants me to read it so we can discuss it. Comment #15: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 22:06:16 Congrats on the house, and happy reading. Elizabeth Comment #16: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 22:27:16 Pussreboots Thank you. Comment #17: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 22:20:25 Congrats on the new house! How exciting. I tried Lumberjanes but I've only read the first one, so far. Archie vs Predator? THAT sounds interesting! :) Comment #18: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 22:29:25 Pussreboots I love the LumberJanes series both for my days at Girl Scout camp and now as a co-troop leader. You should read Archie vs Predator — it's certainly memorable. Comment #19: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 22:58:35 Yay- Congrats on the new house! There is always work to be done to move in... and then on going work when you live there. It comes with the territory. :-) I like several of your read books - cute covers. Hope this is a good week for you. Happy Reading! Comment #20: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 22:29:25 Pussreboots The house sat empty for about a decade. Thankfully local relatives were able to keep it in good maintenance but it still shows some signs of its age. It's been fascinating learning the history of the house and the neighborhood both from the paperwork we were given and from friends who know the area better than we do. Comment #21: Monday, October 02, 2017 at 23:00:23 Congrats on the house!! I hope you are able to do your updates to the house without a hitch. Comment #22: Tuesday, October 03, 2017 at 20:59:00 Pussreboots So far so good. We should be settled this weekend. Comment #23: Tuesday, October 03, 2017 at 03:26:52 Congrats on the house! Comment #2: Monday, October 09, 2017 at 18:41:00 Pussreboots Mrs. Saint and the Defectives was delightful. Now we have a month to get our stuff out of the apartment. Thankfully we didn't take all of our stuff there. |
