To Brie or Not To Brie: 05/29/19
To Brie or Not To Brie by Avery Aames is the fourth in the Cheese Shop mystery series. Charlotte is busy with catering her cousin's upcoming wedding as well as feeding the actors in her grandmother's production of Hamlet. She's created a blueberry brie ice cream for the wedding but everything is put on hold when a stranger ends up dead in the ice cream freezer. This book centers on spousal abuse and wives running for their lives. Her friend and her child are in danger, with ties to the dead man. Fearing for her friend's life as well as the reputation as the accused, Charlotte does a lot of risky, stupid things — like riffling through a suspects car in plain view. The basic mystery was straightforward enough. There weren't any major surprises. The details were obscured a bit with an overly large cast of characters as well as the switching between Charlotte's possible upcoming wedding and the actual upcoming wedding. Book five is Days of Wine and Roquefort (2014). Four stars Comments (0) |
