Crust No One: 02/19/20
Crust No One by Winnie Archer is the second of the Bread Shop mystery series. Ivy Culpepper is continuing to work part time at Yeast of Eden under Olaya Solis. On one particular morning, the Blackbird Ladies introduce Ivy to "Mustache" Hank Rivera. She doesn't think much of it until he turns up missing. Even though Ivy only met Mustache Hank once, she feels compelled to help Miguel (her ex) and the Blackbird Ladies find him. Their investigation takes them through the last days of his known routine. Like Ivy I was really hoping that Hank was just missing. Each person interviewed and each location visited filled in more details of his life, making Hank one of most well formed characters in a mystery, especially for one who only has a few spoken lines. The mystery itself was pretty easy to solve over the course of Ivy's travels around town. Even before she recognizes some key evidence I had the who and why sorted out. Despite that, I enjoyed Crust No One thoroughly. It's a well crafted mystery. The third book is The Walking Bread (2018). Four stars Comments (0) |
