Coraline:

10 week old English lab

The big news this week is that we picked up our puppy today. She's a ten week old English labrador. We've named her Coraline. She's full of energy and already learning the basic commands of sit and stay.

Drawings I made:

Left: A bunch of bananas (Feb 23). Right: Lavender in bloom (Feb 24)

Left: The Adventures of Zollstrasse (a bird ina trench coat and Fedora) (Feb 25). Right: Flamingo (Feb. 26). Both drawn with Copic Markers.

Left: Turkey inspector (Feb 27). Right: Orange wildflower (Feb 28).

Left: Pencil eraser (Feb 29). Right: Self portrait with Coraline (English lab puppy) (Mar 01).

Paintings worked on:

I have opened an Etsy store. Right now there are four paintings available but I will be adding more. I can also take commissions.

Congratulations on your new furry family member. How exciting and so cute.

Great paintings. You always use fabulous colors in your work. I will have to check out your Etsy store.

I want to read The Library of Lost and Found.

Hope you have a nice week.

Coraline is cute and exhausting but adjusting nicely. I will be adding more pieces to the store, although these last three days have been Coraline focused. I also do commmissions. I just finished The Library of Lost and Found and enjoyed it.

I am trying to read through my wishlist by checking out books that the library has. But I don't want the library checkouts to overwhelm all of my other reading.

Congratulations on the arrival of your new puppy. That will be great fun.

And I'm happy to see you have opened an Etsy store. Good for you.

I need to look for the Shaun Tan book.

Have a good week!

The three Shaun Tan books were collected and reissued as Lost and Found. Since I had the three books listed separately on my wishlist, I chose to record my reading as three separate books, rather than one.

Aww, Coraline is adorable. I know she's a member of the family already.

I've heard Egg Drop Dead is good.

Coraline is fitting in nicely. She's even learned her name already.

I've loved every book in Vivien Chien's mystery series, so getting Egg Drop Dead was an automatic purchase.

Coraline is adorable.

I have The Library of Lost and Found...and need to move it up!

Enjoy your week.

You absolutely should move The Library of Lost and Found up. It is a delightful read.

I swear she knew from the moment we first held her that we'd been watching her grow up on the webcam. She just knew we were her humans.

Congrats on your wonderful paintings, I like your self-portrait! The Lost Thing is intriguing

Thanks! Right now the self portrait is just a sketch. I will paint it in the near future. I even have a spot on the wall set aside for it. The Lost Thing is a thoughtful little book.

Such gorgeous paintings! Love them - thank you for sharing those with us every week!

Looks like a very good reading week as well.

Enjoy your puppy! I love that you picked Coraline as the name! How cool and nerdy is that! She's going to be just the right companion to you in reading as well.

It was a good week for reading. This week is off to a slow start for obvious reasons. Coraline's name came about as a compromise. The kids wanted to name her Coral because of the color of her coat and to keep the nautical theme to our pets. The cats are Tortuga and Salmon. I nixed the name because my great-grandmother was named Coral and it felt weird to name a dog after her. So Coraline was our compromise — and yes there have been jokes about me being her "other mother."

Wow!! This is the first time I am visiting your blog (how is that so, I wonder?) and I am amazed at all that you have completed in a week - the drawing/painting and the reading!! And love those categories/options at the top of your blog.
