Ozathon: 12/21/23
Last month I saw a post on Mastodon announcing an Ozathon where participants would be reading (or re-reading) the original Baum Oz books. I misremembered the dates and thought the readathon would begin in January. Wrong! It actually began on December 1st. So here I am jumping in late. As it happens, I just finished reading Rinkitink in Oz (1916), the book we are to read in September. The schedule is: Part I: Essential Oz adventures February, 2024: Ozma of Oz – hosted by Lory March, 2024: Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz – hosted by Deb April, 2024: The Road to Oz – hosted by Lory May, 2024: The Emerald City of Oz – hosted by Deb Part II: Further journeys in Oz August, 2024: The Scarecrow of Oz September, 2024: Rinkitink in Oz November, 2024: The Tin Woodman of Oz December, 2024: The Magic of Oz January, 2024: Glinda of Oz I've already reviewed all the books through the Scarecrow of Oz. My reviews are (and will be) posted below the title in the schedule. Something else I'll be doing this time around too, is reimagining some favorite scenes/ characters artistically. I adore the John R. Neill illustrations but I think it would be fun to reimagine the characters as chickens (except for Bill who already is a chicken). For my re-read of The Wizard of OZ, I'll be reading from the New Wizard of Oz which is the re-issue by Maud Baum in 1928. Comments (0) |
