The Incident of the Book in the Nighttime: 02/13/25
The Incident of the Book in the Nighttime by Vicki Delany and Kim Hicks (Narrator) (2025) is the tenth book in the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop mystery series. Gemma and co are back in London for her sister's wedding. She's marrying Grant, a rare book dealer friend of Gemma. During the reception, Gemma is approached by her ex-husband Paul. Back in the day they ran a bookstore together. He still has the store and says he has a rare book Gemma might be interested in. Reluctantly she agrees to meet him at the store but when she does, he's dead, his body in the office. The set up of the mystery reminds me most of a Scandal in Bohemia, with Paul being Irene Adler-ish. His murder is tied up in the potential for a perceived scandal. The misconceptions of a perceived scandal reminds me also of A Story to Kill by Lynn Cahoon (2016) but better executed. Five stars Comments (0) |
