Sugar Plum Poisoned: 02/24/24
Sugar Plum Poisoned by Jenn McKinlay and Susan Boyce (Narrator) (2023) is the fifteenth book in the Cupcake Bakery mystery series. Singing sensation Shelby Vaughn has arrived in Scotsdale for two weeks of Christmas shows. As she's a friend of Mel, she's hired Fairy Tale Cupcakes to cater the VIP room. And of course there's a murder tied to the show! The who and why of the murder wasn't any big surprise but it was a fun read. It was nice to have a cozy mystery be a cozy mystery without organized crime being behind it. It was a good puzzle with interesting characters. The B plot is Mel trying to host her huge extended family and friends for the first Christmas dinner at the house. While I agree with other reviewers that Mel needs to learn how to say no to her mother, I did like seeing how she managed to pull everyone in to help make the dinner a success. The next book is Fondant Fumble (2024). Five stars Comments (0) |
