Murder at a Cape Bookstore: 01/29/25

Murder at a Cape Bookstore

Murder at a Cape Bookstore by Maddie Day and Rachel Dulude (Narrator) (2023) is the fifth book in the Cozy Capers Book Group mystery series. It's mud season but the new Chamber of Commerce director, Wagner Lavoie, has planned a Spring Equinox event. Unfortunately on the day of the event he's found dead in the Book Nook.

Mac is trying to run her bicycle shop and she's struggling with her new hire. Her newest employee is hardly reliable and surly when she's in. Is the woman's trouble related to the murder or just some other annoyance?

When I listened to the book I enjoyed it thoroughly. I like Maddie Day's characters. I love how Rachel Dulude brings those characters to life. I read the book right near the end of the year and unfortunately in writing this review, I realize I don't remember many of the details.

I recall the bike shop problems. I recall Mac's thoughts on marriage and motherhood. I remember Mac's niece and her trike riding relatives. I remember the changeable weather.

What I don't recall is the meat and bones of my mystery except that I enjoyed it.

The next book in the series is Murder at the Rusty Anchor (2024)
