Peril at Pinecone Rock: 01/14/25
Peril at Pinecone Rock by M.A. Wilson (2021) is the fourth book in the Maple Harbour series. The cousins are visiting again, this time for Canada day, and the serenity of the island village is threatened by a large condominium project. The islands that dot the Salish sea are a mix of igneous and sedimentary and at the edges them you'll sometimes see interesting formations where erosion has taken away the softer stones leaving towers of dark rocks. Pinecone rock is one of these but larger and situated in an unusual location. Unfortunately the unscrupulous developers have plans that involve removing it. This mystery, being written for middle schoolers, goes fairly quickly. There's no murder; it's not that kind of mystery. But there is plenty of danger involving torn sails, ferries, TNT, unmanned ships, bears, and of course Meg, the dog. As of writing this review Peril at Pinecone Rock is the final book in the series. If more are published, I will definitely read them. Five stars Comments (0) |
