An Uninvited Ghost: 01/22/25

An

An Uninvited Ghost by E.J. Copperman and Amanda Ronconi (Narrator) (2011) is the second book in the Haunted Guesthouse mystery series. Alison has a full guesthouse, including a reality TV show crew using her place as a set for their next season. To make things even more chaotic, a new ghost has appeared, claiming to have accidentally killed a woman.

Of course the ghost killed woman isn't dead but she will be later in the book. She's an elderly, wealthy, long time resident of the area. She dies during a seance and of course it turns out to be murder. It has to be one of the guests but who? And why?

The how of the murder is established early. Although I was fairly certain of the who early on in the book there was a big thing I completely missed. I like how the book played on expectations from the numerous other cozy mysteries involving ghosts that I've read. If however I had been thinking outside of the sub-genre and included something like Haunt Sweet Home by Sarah Pinsker (2024) I would have figured it all out.

The next book is Old Haunts (2012).

Five stars
