The Love Lyric: 02/25/25

The Love Lyric

The Love Lyric by Kristina Forest (2025) is the last book in the Greene Sisters series. Iris, a widow and mom, just wants to help her company recover from a disastrous PR event that involved food poisoning. But she's derailed at Violet's wedding when she meets up and coming R&B star Angel.

Angel and Violet have chemistry. They remind me of Darrin and Lilly from The Fighting Temptations (2003). Violet is Angel's muse but in a sexy consensual way. She realizes their connection when she hears a song about their first meeting playing on the radio.

I'm often skeptical about included writing that is attributed to a fictional character. They often seem out of character for the one supposedly writing. But Kristina Forest has a way with words and she knows her characters. Put another way, I want to hear Angels songs.

This romance is interesting too because you have Calla, Violet's daughter. You have a mom wanting to protect her daughter but still falling in love. Plus there's the conflict of interest where the two are asked to not have a relationship while he's under contract with the company. These things add realistic complications.

The book has a satisfying HEA. It's a good one and one that's leaving me wanting more from the Greene sisters, and this couple in particular.

Five stars
