Killer Party: 03/03/24
Killer Party by Lynn Cahoon and Susan Boyce (Narrator) (2017) is the ninth book in the Tourist Trap mystery series. Jill Gardner has been invited to an annual reunion, held this year at the Castle because she's dating Greg. Unfortunately tensions are high and then there's a murder. This get together was also the run-up to a wedding for one of Greg's old companions. It's the groom who is murdered, drowned in the pool. The fiancée doesn't seem that distraught and frankly none of the others do either. Meanwhile, Jill is distracted by her aunt's many errands. She's also planning a wedding and wants it to be perfect. The big event is six months off and Jill thinks her aunt is going overboard. I happened to listen to this audiobook around the same time that I was reading [LINK]She Doesn't Have a Clue[/LINK] by Jenny Elder Moke (2025). The wackier nature of Moke's book has stuck with me better than the this mystery. Cahoon's mystery is more tied up in jealousy and poor communication between couples. It was a by the numbers mystery that was fun while it lasted (in big part due to Susan Boyce's performance) but doesn't have as lasting an impression. The next book is Memories and Murder (2019).
