The Whole Cat and Caboodle: 05/24/25
The Whole Cat and Caboodle by Sofie Ryan and Marguerite Gavin (Narrator) (2014) is the start of the Second Chance Cat mystery series. Sarah Grayson runs Second Chance, a furniture refurbishing shop. She's recently adopted a former street cat named Elvis. Sarah finds her elderly friend Maddie sitting next to the body of a man who had been conning his way through the town. Sarah can't believe Maddie would poison a man. But she's reluctant to investigate but she has a group of kith and kin who are hell bent on solving the mystery. Wanting to keep them safe she reluctantly helps. Although Elvis likes to help investigate he doesn't appear to have supernatural powers like his literary cousins, Owen and Hercules. Sarah also seems to have less shame in talking to her cat than Kathleen. The Whole Cat and Caboodle is one of the rare mysteries where I didn't solve the case before Sarah, despite being very familiar with the author's work. I was more preoccupied with learning the set up of the town, the characters, and Sarah's relationship with her cat. The second book is Buy a Whisker (2015) Four stars Comments (0) |
