A Cold Dose of Murder: 06/09/24
A Cold Dose of Murder by Emily George and Chelsea Stephens (Narrator) (2025) is the third book in the Cannabis Café mystery series. Chloe has a fantastic interview with a popular food review podcast but then her interviewer is murdered. Chloe can see that her rival is being framed and decides to help solve the mystery. The murder is set against a summertime ice cream festival. The event is divided up into different areas, meaning Chloe can sell her cannabis infused treats without worrying about children getting them. The mystery itself has a bunch of circumstantial evidence that points to Starr Bright. Despite Starr's unpleasantness she softens when Chloe is willing to put aside their differences and help. A big part of Chloe's attitude stems from embarrassment over her immigrant past. The other set of clues, though, once sorted from the obvious frame up, begs the question of who would understand the meaning of the clues? Were the meanings accidental or purposeful? If they were intentional, who would actually know the meanings and apply them appropriately? I have to say that I was taken in with the notion that meanings were coincidental for a good portion of the book. If I had been more literal with things (my usual approach) I would have solved things well before Chloe. Four stars Comments (0) |
