Delicious in Dungeon, Volume 12: 06/10/25

Delicious in Dungeon, Volume 12

Delicious in Dungeon, Volume 12 by Ryoko Kui turns most of its focus away from our party of characters to see how others are reacting to, or being affected by, the change in the Dungeon. Consensus is that Laios is the new Lord of the Dungeon. Meanwhile, overlooked and underestimated Marcille is left unsupervised to fall further into the grasp of the demon's power.

As this is the first volume in a new arc the story is mostly setting things up for what will be a large battle. I prefer the set up scenes to what's bound to be a multi-volume to-do with lots of running, screaming, and slashing lines and little else. I hope I'm wrong, as so far this series has avoided these long battle arcs.

The other thing Volume 12 consists of is a long discussion / diatribe from the demon on what he wants from life and how wonderful mortal wishes are. Contrasted with his examples are the party trying to get to her and having oversized foodstuffs falling on their heads.

For this volume, we have scarecrow and minotaur travelers (99), with each side seeing others as the monsters who need to be stopped. Their destination is the wildlands (or outside of the dungeon) (99). Their route there is the labyrinth (99) of the changing dungeon landscape.

Five stars
