Ganbatte!: The Japanese Art of Always Moving Forward: 06/05/25
Ganbatte!: The Japanese Art of Always Moving Forward by Albert Liebermann (2021) is a short book of advice based around the author's experience living in Japan. There are 50 short chapters in a thankfully short book. The first couple chapters started off strong with interesting looks at the Japanese language, verb conjugation and how the different phrases are used and their deeper cultural meanings. Unfortunately this isn't a language book; it's a self help book. As there's only so much one can say about moving forward and finding creative solutions to problems, the book expands out to other aspects of Japanese life that aren't necessarily applicable and are frankly sometimes contradictory.
